Potentiation

Also written: post-activation potentiation, PAP

A short-term boost in power after a heavy or explosive effort.

After a heavy set or an explosive movement, your nervous system can stay β€œprimed” for a few minutes, making the next explosive effort stronger.

Coaches use this by pairing a heavy lift with a jump. The effect varies a lot from person to person.
