Recovery Log

Recovery Log

You don’t get stronger in the gym. You get stronger while you recover. The gym is the stimulus. Recovery is where the adaptation happens.

Log the inputs. Track the outputs. See the pattern.

Weekly Summary

  • Average sleep: [Auto-calculated]
  • Average readiness: [Auto-calculated]
  • SMR sessions: [Auto-counted]
  • Mobility sessions: [Auto-counted]
  • Pattern noticed: [Free text]

The Big Three

1. Sleep (7–9 hours) The single most important recovery variable. Growth hormone peaks during deep sleep. Muscle repair happens at night. Skip sleep, skip progress.

2. Nutrition Protein 1.6–2.2 g/kg bodyweight. Enough calories to support training and recovery. Water throughout the day.

3. Stress Management Life stress counts as training stress. School, work, relationships, poor sleep β€” all of it adds to the load. Manage it like you’d manage .

Additional Tools

Self-Myofascial Release (SMR): Foam rolling, lacrosse balls, The Stick. 5–15 minutes as needed. Mobility Work: Deep squat holds, World’s Greatest Stretch, pass-throughs. 5–15 minutes daily. Active Recovery: Walking, easy biking, swimming. Low- movement helps blood flow. Rest Days: Not optional. Planned. Non-negotiable.

Adaptive Frequency

Novice: Log daily. You’re learning what good recovery feels like. Intermediate: Log daily, but focus only on the big three. Advanced: Log when it matters β€” before high-intensity sessions, during , or when you feel off.

Journal Integration

Recovery log data feeds the Weekly Reflection and Training Log readiness markers. If sleep drops below 7 hours for 3+ days, the system suggests a pull-back week.
